5 Steps to Reduce the Effects of Ageing

Veggies

The best time to start preventing ageing is when you’re still young, but right now is the next best time to start. The following steps will help you keep wrinkles and sagging skin at bay.

1. Drop the Bad Habits

Drinking too much alcohol and smoking are two of the worst habits when it comes to your skin. They both damage your cells and can inhibit regeneration, making your skin look sallow, grey, and dry. Over time, excessive drinking can cause your skin to break out and dry out so it looks older.

There are many resources available to help you reduce the amount of alcohol you drink or to aid you in quitting smoking. Considering how much it can improve your health, it’s worth taking steps to get rid of these ageing habits.

2. Take Supplements

Even if you eat well, you are likely low in nutrients, simply because the food of today doesn’t have as many nutrients as before. It’s a good idea to take daily supplements to make up for what you’re missing out on.

Experts recommend using Vitamin C, CoQ10, Vitamin E, and alpha-lipoic acid. These, in addition to a regular multivitamin, can help keep your body feeling energetic and your skin looking amazing.

3. Get More Sleep

Did you know that sleep is essential if you want to stay young-looking? Your body spends hours of sleep repairing your cells. It’s also refreshing for your brain and can help you feel mentally younger. It’s important to get plenty of sleep. The recommended amount is eight hours, but even getting six hours a night will help you improve your skin tone and overall health.

4. Drink Plenty of Water

Staying hydrated is the best way to ensure your skin stays young-looking. When you are dehydrated, you’ll find that your skin starts to look dried out and begins to show fine lines easier. You can just make sure to drink more water and even some hydration drinks to boost your liquid levels. It doesn’t take long to see the difference in your skin.

5. Consider Dermal Fillers

For anyone who is frustrated with the fine lines that are appearing, dermal fillers can be a wonderful way to smooth out your skin. Get a medical professional to administer the dermal filler, as it can look unpleasant if it’s not done properly.

The key to looking younger is to look after yourself. Take the time to care for your body and your skin. You may need to add some extra help from time to time, such as with lotions, acupuncture, or dermal fillers.

Vaping is a relatively new phenomenon that has increased in popularity significantly in the past decade. Many use it as a way to wean off cigarettes but some people are becoming addicted to e-cigarettes at a young age. Smoking is widely recognised as a very unhealthy habit, causing gum disease, tooth loss, staining and even oral cancer, whereas vaping is considered a healthier alternative. However, how much damage is being done by vaping? Read on to learn more. Can vaping cause gum disease? While the effects of vaping are not yet known for certain, here is what we do know about smoking nicotine. - Nicotine causes vasoconstriction which means that your gum has a poor blood supply. Ultimately, this can make your gums more prone to infection and lead to gum recession. - Smoking will also dry out your mouth which means your mouth loses its first line of defence against bacteria. Gum disease is caused by bacteria getting under your gum line which is more likely if you have lower levels of saliva. - Generally, your immune system is lowered if you are a smoker which means infectious diseases such as gum disease are more likely to occur. What ingredients should you avoid? When choosing an e-cigarette fluid, there are some ingredients that have known negative side effects. These include: - Nicotine - Propylene glycol - Menthol It’s also worth noting that flavoured e-liquids can cause even more inflammation of your gums than non-flavoured e-liquids. How can you minimise the side effects of vaping? There are ways to look after your teeth that can help reduce the impact of vaping on your teeth. These include: - Limiting nicotine intake. Try to pick low-nicotine or nicotine-free juices as nicotine will affect your teeth and gums over time. - Drink water every time you vape. This will help you avoid dry mouth and rehydrate you after vaping. - Brush your teeth at least twice a day. Brushing removes plaque to help prevent cavities and promote overall gum health. - Floss before bed. Similarly to brushing, flossing helps remove plaque and promotes gum health. - Visit your local dentist often. Your dentist can help ensure your teeth are still in good condition and let you know when you need any work done. You can also get teeth whitening treatments to get rid of any stains.
